Policy on post-publication comments and requests for corrections

Requests for correction will be declined if they concern the following:

  • Minor spelling and/or typographical errors and omissions that were present on the gallery proof of article.
  • Minor spelling and/or typographical errors and omissions that were NOT present on the gallery proof of article, but where request for correction is received after one week of publishing the version of record.
  • Changes to author information concerning affiliation changes, changes to contact details, rearrangement of order of authorship.
  • Update to statement on funding

Requests for correction will be granted if they concern the following:

  • Minor spelling and/or typographical errors and omissions that were NOT present on the gallery proof of article, and where request for correction is received WITHIN one week of publishing the version of record.
  • A typographical error in the title of the article.
  • Author name changes due to marriage, divorce or other personal reasons.
  • Omitted author name
  • Errors of fact and pervasive errors that affect the main contents and understanding of the article, but do not change the interpretation of results and the conclusion that is drawn from the results.

The Yenagoa Medical Journal will republish and replace the original online version with a corrected version without a correction notice (silent corrections) for:

  • Minor spelling and/or typographical errors and omissions that were NOT present on the gallery proof of article, and where request for correction is received WITHIN one week of publishing the version of record.
  • A typographical error in the title of the article.
  • Author name changes due to marriage, divorce or other personal reasons.
  • Omitted author name.

A charge of $10 will apply EXCEPT in the case of Minor spelling and/or typographical errors and omissions that were NOT present on the gallery proof of article, and where request for correction is received WITHIN one week of publishing the version of record.

The Yenagoa Medical Journal will effect correction by publication of correction notices for:

  • Errors of fact and pervasive errors that affect the main contents and understanding of the article, but do not change the interpretation of results and the conclusion that is drawn from the results.
    A charge of $25 will apply.

The Yenagoa Medical Journal will effect correction by retraction with republication for:

  • Articles with honest errors of misclassification or miscalculation, serious enough to change the interpretation of results, invalidate the results and conclusion.
    A charge of $45 will apply.
